1. The government of the Republic of Korea strongly protests the Japanese government’s expansion and relocation of the so-called “National Museum of Territory and Sovereignty” in Tokyo Metropolis and its opening today, aimed at strengthening unjust claims over Dokdo, an integral part of the ROK’s territory, and urges its closure.
2. It is deeply regrettable that despite the ROK government’s repeated calls for the immediate closure of the museum since its opening in 2018, the Japanese government has all the more expanded it.
3. The
ROK government once again makes it clear that the government will respond sternly
to any provocations over Dokdo, which is clearly an integral part of the ROK’s
territory in terms of history, geography and international law.
