On Monday December 30, Consul General Jongho Kyun invited Robert Penner, a paramedic with BC Emergency Health Services, and Steven Reed, his supervisor, to the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Vancouver to present them with a certificate of appreciation.
On July 18, while off duty, Robert Penner witnessed a traffic accident on a highway near Golden, BC. He assisted in the airlift of a critically injured person who had suffered a spinal fracture and personally drove another accident victim with relatively minor injuries in his own vehicle to a hospital located 3 hours and 30 minutes away from the accident site, ensuring their safe arrival.
Consul General Kyun expressed his heartfelt gratitude, stating that Robert Penner is a true hero of the Korean community in BC for demonstrating a spirit of service and professionalism even while on vacation to protect the lives and safety of a Korean national. He also requested continued attention and support for the safety of Korean nationals and expatriates in the future.
