1. The Korean government welcomes that the OECD Development Assistance Committee (DAC) has
decided to accept Korea as its 24th member after a meeting on November 25 to consider Korea’s
application for membership in the DAC.
2. The accession to the DAC represents Korea’s transition from an emerging donor to an advanced donor.
It is expected to help elevate Korea’s international stature by reaffirming its determination to make
contributions to the international community.
3. With the accession to the DAC, the Korean government will continue to make good on its promise to
increase Korea’s ODA to 0.25% of its GNI by 2015. The government will also advance Korea's aid system
to build an effective, well-coordinated system that can substantially contribute to the growth of developing
countries.
