ROK-Austria Working Holiday Program to Take Effect

1. The joint statement on the ROK-Austria Working Holiday Program signed on July 5 will take effect on September 17, as the two countries have completed their domestic procedures needed for its effectuation.

2. The bilateral Working Holiday Program, when effectuated, will allow youth aged 18-30 of the two countries to stay in each other’s countries for up to 6 months to work, travel and experience their cultures. 

3. Austria is the 15th country for the ROK to sign such agreement with. The two countries agreed to issue Working Holiday visas at five more diplomatic missions in their neighboring countries for convenience of their Program participants.

* Working Holiday visas will be issued to Austrian participants at the ROK Embassies in Japan and China, Consulate Generals in Shanghai and Hong Kong and mission to Taiwan.

* Working Holiday visas will be issued to ROK youth at the Austrian Embassies in Germany, Switzerland and Slovakia, and Consulate Generals in Milan and Munich.

4. The Foreign Ministry will seek to sign an agreement on working holiday program with many more countries to nurture global talents and provide young people with more opportunities to gain foreign experience.
