Good afternoon. Let me start today’s briefing.

Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Choi Jongmoon will virtually attend “the 4th Ministerial Meeting of the Stockholm Initiative for Nuclear Disarmament” hosted by Spain on the evening of July 5.

The Meeting will be held with the aim of finding common ground on nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation issues among 16 non-nuclear states in preparation for the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) Review Conference to be held in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the NPT’s entry into force.

At the Meeting, Vice Minister Choi will stress Korea’s commitment to strengthening the nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation regime based on the NPT. He will also explain the Korean government’s efforts on the Korean Peninsula Peace Process, aimed at achieving complete denuclearization and establishing permanent peace on the Korean Peninsula, and ask for continued support from the international community.
