Good afternoon. Let me start today’s briefing.
First Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Choi Jong Kun, together with H.E.
Zubairu Dada, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Nigeria who is visiting
Korea from yesterday, October 13, to 17, will attend the 6th meeting
of the Korea-Nigeria Joint Commission today, Thursday, October 14, as head delegates
of the two countries.
The first face-to-face Joint Commission meeting with an African country amid the COVID-19 situation and a follow-up meeting with Nigeria in two months since Vice Minister Choi’s visit to the country last August will cover various ways for substantive cooperation between the two countries.
On the occasion of the Joint Commission meeting, representatives of Nigerian companies, who are visiting Korea as part of the delegation, will seek ways for cooperation with Korean enterprises.
Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Choi Jong Kun will make a seven-day visit to the UK, Belgium and France from October 17 to 23.
During the visit, Vice Minister Choi will hold the 7th Korea-European Union (EU) High Level Political Dialogue to discuss ways to strengthen the Korea-EU Strategic Partnership and also exchange views on major regional affairs and global issues.
The Vice Minister will also meet with high-level officials of his destination countries and seek to strengthen bilateral relations between Korea and major European countries by exchanging views on key matters of interest including bilateral issues, Korean Peninsula and other major regional affairs, and response to climate change.
The Vice Minister will also step up policy public diplomacy toward Europe including through meetings with academic and opinion leaders.
