Good afternoon. Let me start today’s briefing.
Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Choi Jong Kun will chair the Korea-Central America Special Roundtable on Thursday morning, October 28.
The meeting is the first multilateral dialogue platform in which Korea, Central America, and the United States participate. It is a high-level dialogue held in follow-up to the discussion at the Korea-U.S. summit in May on ways of policy coordination on cooperation in Central America as well as the decision to establish future-oriented and comprehensive cooperative partnership between Korea and Central America, which was announced at the Korea-Central American Integration System (SICA) summit in June.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expects the upcoming meeting to serve as an opportunity to review diplomatic accomplishments in Central America this year, discuss the way forward for Korea-Central America cooperation, and stress that Korea would be a true partner for development and cooperation in Central America.
(A question-and-answer session followed.)
