Embassy of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Singapore

The Embassy of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Singapore will be hosting the 5th Korean Essay Writing Contest.

We look forward to the participation of many individuals interested in learning and writing in Korean.

1. Eligibility and Application Process

  1) Eligible Participants: Singapore residents interested in the Korean language 

      (Korean citizens are NOT eligible to participate).

  2) How to participate: Submit your entries using the link or scan QR code on the poster

                            for the Acrostic Poem Challenge by October 24

                            for the Writing Contest by October 25. 11:59pm.

2. Acrostic Poem Challenge 

1) Challenge Schedule : 18th - 24th, October, 2024

2) The theme and submission link for the Acrostic Poem Challenge will be sent to participants via email on October 18.

    Please write and submit a creative and free-spirited poem through the provided link.

3) Announcement of Results : November 1st, 2024

4) Prize 

  - 1st Place: Dining Voucher ($100) x 1 pax

  - 2nd Place: Dining Voucher ($80) x 1 pax

  - 3rd Place: Dining Voucher ($50) x 3 pax

5) Award Ceremony and Celebratory Lunch (for 1st and 2nd place winners): 11am, November 6th, 2024 (at Embassy)

3. Korean Essay Writing Competition

1) Contest Schedule : 10.00 am - 12.00 pm, October 26th, 2024

2) Location:  <Korea Plaza> 

                      3 Church Street, #01-02, Samsung Hub, Singapore 049483

                      This is an offline event. Participants will hand write their essays at the venue for submission.

3) Announcement of Results : November 1st, 2024

4) Prizes

The first 30 registered attendees (based on time of sign-up) will receive a small gift on the contest day.

Top 3 winners will receive a Certificate of Award and the following prizes:

- 1st Place: Samsung Galaxy S24 mobile phone

- 2nd Place: 32' Samsung M7 Monitor

- 3rd Place: Samsung Galaxy Watch 7

- Special Prize (2 pax) : Certificate of Award and Samsung Galaxy Buds3

   Most Touching Story award

   Most Creative Story award

5) Award Ceremony and Celebratory Lunch: 11am, November 6th, 2024 (at Embassy)

6) Other Information

  -The essay topic will be revealed on the day of the event.

  - The first prize winner from previous years’ competitions will be allowed to participate but will not be considered for the first prize.
