주시애틀 총영사관, '경기도교육청-워싱턴주교육청-주시애틀총영사관' 간 3자 MOU를 체결

Consul General Eun-ji Seo, along with Superintendent Lim Tae-hee of the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, visited the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) in Washington State on February 6 and signed a trilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, the Washington State Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI), and the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Seattle.
This MOU aims to promote student and teacher exchanges between Gyeonggi Province and Washington State, enhance the quality of language education, and design a collaborative future-oriented education system between Korea and the United States. As the first step in this initiative, an educational exchange program between Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province and Bellevue City in Washington State will be established.
In addition to Consul General Eun-ji Seo and Superintendent Lim Tae-hee, OSPI Deputy Superintendent Michaela Miller and Assistant Superintendent Susan Lathrop participated in the event. Several distinguished guests, including Senator Lisa Wellman, Representative My-Lihn Thai, Representative Janice Zahn, and Representative Osman Salahuddin, attended to celebrate the occasion.
During the event, Consul General Seo emphasized that addressing the growing demand for Korean language education in Washington State would not only contribute to the region’s cultural diversity but also create more job opportunities for students. She also expressed her strong commitment to actively serving as a bridge for cooperation between the two institutions.
서은지 총영사는 2월 6일 임태희 경기도교육감과 함께 워싱턴주교육청(OSPI)를 찾아 경기도교육청-워싱턴주교육청-주시애틀총영사관 간 3자 MOU를 체결했습니다. 이 양해 각서는 경기도와 워싱턴주 간의 학생, 교원 교류를 활성화하고, 보다 높은 수준의 언어 교육과 한-미 양 국간 협력적 미래 교육을 설계하는데 세 기관이 협업하겠다는 내용이며, 그 시작으로 경기도 성남시와 워싱턴주 벨뷰시 간의 교육 교류가 이뤄질 예정입니다. 동 행사에는 서은지 총영사, 임태희 교육감 외에도 OSPI의 Michaela Miller 부교육감, Susan Lathrop 교육국장이 참여했으며, 이 자리를 축하하기 위해 Lisa Wellman 상원의원과 My-Lihn Thai 하원의원, Janice Zahn하원의원, Osman Salahuddin 하원의원 등이 참석했습니다. 서은지 총영사는 이 자리에서, 워싱턴주에서 증가하고 있는 한국어 교육 수요에 대응하는 것이 이 지역의 문화적 다양성은 물론, 학생들에게 더 많은 일자리의 기회를 창출할 수 있을 것이라고 강조하며, 시애틀 총영사관이 양 기관 협력의 가교 역할을 할 것임을 밝혔습니다.
