The Embassy of the Republic of Korea has the privilege to inform the public of NEW VISA CATEGORY

 

 

 

 

G-1 visa

 

 

(G-1) – To promote medical tourism and showcase the quality of service of medical industries in Korea, the government recently grants the issuance of G-1 visa category.

 

  • Who are qualified?

-          foreigners who are suffering/ diagnosed with disease or sickness which entails medical attention for cure and enough relaxation for treatment and healing

-          G-1 can be extended to the patient’s spouse, children and immediate family member and patient’s care giver

 

  • Visa type

-          This visa category is like the previous G-1 visa which refers to other important reasons of sojourn in Korea wherein G-1 refers to patient’s need of medical treatment, healing and relaxation. However, G-1 is a multiple-entry visa.

 

  • Period of Stay

-          If the patient needs or advised to have less than 90 days of treatment or healing, he/she will be given maximum of 90 days period of stay.

-          If the patient needs or advised to have more than 90 days of treatment or healing, he/she will be given maximum of 1 year period of stay.

Note: At any case if the patient needs treatment for more than one year, he/she can extend the period of stay still 4 years in Korea.

 

  • Requirement documents

-          In addition to the basic requirements for visa application, the following must be submitted:

1.      Diagnosis of Disease/ Sickness

2.      Certification / Medical Opinion of Authorized and Competent Medical Doctor

3.      Reservation Papers / Arrangement with chosen medical center, hospital or accredited institution for treatment and relaxation

4.      Documents to prove financial capacity to sustain and avail the medical  treatment/ healing in . e.g. bank statement or certificate.
