Consul General Youngwan Kim met with Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs to discuss current trends in U.S. elections, the expansion of economic cooperation between South Korea and Arizona, and honors for Korean War veterans. During the meeting, Consul General Kim requested the Governor’s continued interest and support for the Korean American community in Arizona and Korean-invested businesses in the state.
- Governor Hobbs expressed her welcome to Korean companies investing in Arizona and her commitment to supporting these companies while continuing collaborative efforts with the Consulate General in Los Angeles.
Consul General Kim met with Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego (October 24) and Mesa Mayor John Giles (October 23) to promote cooperation between local governments and advocate for support for the Korean American community. Both officials acknowledged the contributions of Korean businesses and the Korean American community to the local development and expressed their willingness to continue exploring avenues for collaboration and support.
During his visit to Arizona, the Consulate General in Los Angeles hosted a Meeting with the Korean Community in Arizona (October 24). Furthermore, as part of Korea Month events, the Consulate organized a Korean film screening (October 24) and a Korean studies lecture (October 25) at Arizona State University.
