OECD to release Education at a Glance 2010 on Tuesday 7 September

1/09/2010 - The economic and social benefits of investing in education are among the issues analysed in the 2010 edition of the OECD’s Education at a Glance, to be published on Tuesday 7 September.


With OECD countries spending on average 5.5% of GDP on education, how do different systems compare in terms of performance and value for money?

Media presentations of this year’s edition are planned as follows:
 
London - Monday 6 September at 11.00 a.m. local time - news conference (under embargo until Tuesday 7 September at 10.00 a.m. London time - 11.00 a.m. Paris time) with Andreas Schleicher, Head of the Educational Indicators and Analysis Division in the OECD’s Education Directorate (Mountbatten Room, Overseas House, Park Place, St. James’s Street, London SW1A ILR).
 
Paris - Tuesday 7 September at 11.00 a.m. local time - news conference at OECD headquarters with OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurría and Andreas Schleicher, Head of the Educational Indicators and Analysis Division (2, rue André Pascal, 75016 Paris).


Berlin - Tuesday 7 September at 11.00 a.m. local time - news conference with Annette Schavan, Federal Minister for Education and Research; Johanna Wanka, Minister for Science and Culture of the federal state the Lower Saxony (Niedersachsen); Heino von Meyer, Head OECD Berlin Centre; and Kathrin Höckel, Analyst OECD Directorate for Education (Bundespressekonferenz, Schiffbauerdamm 40, D-10117 Berlin).

Brussels - Tuesday 7 September at 11.00 p.m. local time - news conference at European Commission Berlaymont press room with Pierre Mairesse, EC Director, Education and Culture DG; Barbara Ischinger, Head of OECD’s Education Directorate, and Eric Charbonnier, analyst in the OECD’s Educational Indicators and Analysis Division (200 Rue de la Loi, 1000 Brussels).
