Press Releases : ROK-Southeast Asia Cooperation to be Strengthened through the OECD Southeast Asia Regional Forum

 1. Deputy Minister for Economic Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Ahn Chong-ghee will attend the OECD Southeast Asia Regional Forum to be held under the theme “Regional Competitiveness for Sustained Growth” in Bali, Indonesia, on March 26.

o With the OECD Southeast Asia Regional Programme to be launched at the upcoming OECD Ministerial Council Meeting in May, the participants of the Forum will discuss a range of issues, including economic policy directions to promote sustained economic growth in Southeast Asia and ways to enhance cooperation between the OECD and Southeast Asian countries, which are not members of the OECD.

2. In the Forum, Deputy Minister Ahn will explain the ROK’s efforts for institutional advancement through entry into the OECD and experiences in economic development. The Deputy Minister will express the ROK’s willingness to draw on such experiences and play a bridging role between the OECD and Southeast Asia for a successful launch and implementation of the OECD Southeast Asia Regional Programme.

3. On the sidelines of the Forum, Deputy Minister Ahn will meet with Deputy Finance Minister Bambang Brodjonegoro of Indonesia, which co-hosts the Forum. They will discuss bilateral economic issues, including follow-up measures to the ROK-Indonesia Summit held in October 2013.
