Outcome of Korea-U.S.-Japan Foreign Ministers’ Pull-aside Meeting (September 22)


1. Minister of Foreign Affairs Park Jin, who is on a visit to New York, the United States, to accompany President Yoon Suk Yeol, held a pull-aside meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken and Japanese Minister for Foreign Affairs Kamikawa Yoko on the morning of September 22, and discussed Korea-U.S.-Japan cooperation and regional situations.




2. The three sides appreciated the historic significance of the Trilateral Leaders’ Summit at Camp David held in August, and agreed to continue to expand and advance trilateral cooperation by faithfully implementing various agreements among the leaders of the three countries.




3. The three sides expressed serious concern over the discussion of military cooperation between Russia and North Korea, including a possible arms deal. They also agreed that the Republic of Korea, the U.S., and Japan will respond sternly to any acts that threaten regional security in violation of UN Security Council resolutions, and will continue to closely collaborate with the international community.




4. Foreign Minister Park appreciated that cooperation among the overseas diplomatic missions of the three countries is being pursued actively, and Secretary of State Blinken and Foreign Minister Kamikawa also welcomed the pursuit of various forms of trilateral cooperation tailored to local circumstances in different countries around the world.
