1. Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Ban Ki-moon, and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Sudan, Mustafa
Osman Ismail, signed the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Korea and the Government
of the Republic of Sudan for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with
Respect to Taxes on Income in Seoul on September 10, 2004.
2. By preventing double taxation on income and capital in mutual investment, this agreement is expected
to contribute to the vitalization of economic exchanges between the two countries by promoting active
transfer of human, capital and technology transfers. Furthermore, the agreement will also facilitate early
settlement of possible disputes on taxation by providing effective procedures to resolve such issues.
3. As of September 2004, the Republic of Korea has concluded agreements for avoidance of double
taxation with the total of 64 countries, and 60 agreements for avoidance of double taxation have come into
effect.
