Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Ban Ki-moon, is scheduled to visit New York from September 22 to
26, to participate in the 59th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, which began on September
14, 2004. Minister Ban will deliver a keynote speech at the UN General Assembly and have luncheon with
the officials of the UN Secretariat. During his visit to New York, he will also receive the Van Fleet Award,
which is awarded for the promotion of the ROK-US relations by the Korea Society, and deliver a speech on
the ROK-US relationship on September 23.
Following his visit to New York, Minister Ban is scheduled to visit Canada from September 26 to 28.
During the visit, Minister Ban will hold the ROK-Canada Foreign Ministers' Meeting and meet with the
participants of the 35th Session of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Assembly in Montreal
to discuss the ROK's efforts to be reelected as the Council Member State.
