1. On May 29, 2002, the Korean Government requested bilateral consultations with China on the temporary 
safeguard measures imposed on Korean steel products, in accordance with the WTO Safeguard Agreement. 

 
2. In the consultations, the Korean Government will focus on whether China followed the relevant 
regulations and steps outlined in the WTO Agreement in taking these safeguard measures.

 
3. The Korean Government will make its best efforts to minimize the damages China's measures will have 
on Korea's industries by effectively responding to the measures and the investigations in close consultations 
with its industries.
