Minister for Trade visits the U.S.

1. Minister for Trade Kim Jong-hoon will visit Washington, U.S. on May 18-19 to participate in 
various events, including the international Trade Conference, the Seminar hosted by the Washington
International Trade Association (WITA), Korea-US Business Roundtable and the Korea-US
Trade Ministers Meeting as well as meet with the high office of the US administration.

2. On May 18, the Trade Minister will participate in the International Trade Conference hosted by the
US Chamber of Commerce. On May 19, he will participate in the Seminar hosted by WITA and the
Korea-US Business Roundtable. At the meeting, he will exchange broad discussions with
the key figures in US government, academia and finance on the issue of Korea-US trade and 
investment relations. At both the Seminar and the Roundtable, the Trade Minister will speak for the
acceleration of the Korea-US FTA.

3. On the occasion of his visit, the Minister for Trade will meet with US Trade Representative Ronald
Kirk, Deputy National Security Advisor for International Economic Affairs Michael Froman, Senator 
and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance Max Baucus (Democrat, Montana), Senator and
Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance Charles Grassley (Republican, Iowa), Senator and
Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ways and Means Sander Levin (Democrat, Michigan), 
Senator and President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly John Tanner (Democrat, Tennessee).
In depth discussion on the bilateral trade relations, including the Korea-US FTA, will be held at the
meetings.

4. The visit by the Trade Minister is expected to be an opportunity to evaluate the Korea-US economic
and trade relations of the past two years since the launch of the Obama administration. Furthermore,
it will be an opportunity to exchange views on the progress of major issues such as the Korea-US FTA.
