1. The Korean government has decided to provide emergency humanitarian aid worth 100,000 dollars
to Guatemala, where the eruption of Pacaya Volcano on May 27 and Hurricane Agatha on May 29-30
have caused massive damage, including the destruction of houses, roads and bridges, and the loss
of human life.

ㅇ While the eruption of Pacaya Volcano and Hurricane Agatha have left 152 people dead, about 100
missing, and around 440,000 homeless, the extent of the damage is expected to expand as there are
many isolated areas in Guatemala.

2. For aid for the victims of the volcanic eruption and the hurricane, the Guatemalan government asked
the international community to provide support on May 29. The Korean government will provide relief
supplies consisting mainly of food, drinking water and medicines, which are in high demand, in
consultation with the Guatemalan government.
