1. On June 23, Foreign Minister Yu Myung-hwan met with Micha Ondo Bile, his counterpart from
Equatorial Guinea, who is on a visit to Korea on June 23-28, for a discussion on ways to promote
cooperation between Korea and Equatorial Guinea.
2. Minister Yu requested that Equatorial Guinea help Korean firms increase presence in infrastructure
development and construction projects in the country. He also expressed anticipation for bolstered
energy and resources cooperation with Equatorial Guinea, the 3rd-largest oil producer in sub-Sahara
Africa.
ο After the Meeting, the two Foreign Ministers signed the Korea-Equatorial Guinea Agreement on
Economic, Cultural, Scientific and Technical Cooperation.
3. The latest Korea-Equatorial Guinea Foreign Ministers’ Meeting is expected to help further solidify
substantive cooperation between the two countries in infrastructure, construction, energy and resources.
