Holding of the 3rd ROK-Japan Director-General-level Economic and Trade Consultation

1. The 3rd ROK-Japan Director-General-level Economic and Trade Consultation will be held 
in Seoul on June 16. The Korean delegation will be headed by Director-General for Bilateral 
Trade, Ahn Chong-gee and the Japanese delegation will be headed by Consul General Suzuki 
Yoichi, with both delegations including relevant members of economy and trade-related 
government departments. The two sides will hold consultations on bilateral economy and 
trade relations.

2. At this meeting, the two sides will discuss specific issues not only for expanding bilateral 
trade volume, but for achieving trade balance between two countries, including industrial 
cooperation in components and materials, cooperation between small and medium-sized 
enterprises, and cooperation in R&D of industrial technology. Both sides will also exchange 
views on the Joint Statement for Standardized Cooperation, as a follow up to the Korea-
Japan-China Trilateral Summit and Korea-Japan Summit that were held in May. The two sides 
will also discuss ways to carry out negotiations on the AEO Mutual Recognition Agreement.

3. Meanwhile, the both sides will consult the current grievances in the trade and investment 
between Korea and Japan, and find ways to solve out those problems

4. Moreover, both sides will also discuss the ways to make a progress on the WTO DDA 
Negotiations, ways to successfully hold the G20 Seoul Summit and APEC meeting and to 
cooperate through the China-Japan-Korea Trilateral Investment Agreement.
