1. Valerie Amos, UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, 
will visit Korea from October 22 through 25.

2. Under-Secretary-General Amos’ visit to the Republic of Korea (ROK) will be preceded by a visit to 
China and North Korea (October 17-21). During her visit to the ROK, she will pay a courtesy call on 
Foreign Minister Kim Sung-Hwan and meet with high-ranking officials of the Unification Ministry.

3. Also included in Under-Secretary-General Amos’ schedule in Korea are a meeting with Han Bi-ya, 
an advisor to the UN Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF), and another with NGO representatives, 
during which she will make a presentation on activities by the UN Office for the Coordination of 
Humanitarian Affairs as well as the Office’s relations with NGOs.
