1. A Chinese delegation comprised of ten young leaders of the International Liaison Department of the
Communist Party of China (CPC) will visit Korea on December 5-9 at the invitation of the Foreign Ministry.
2. During its five-day visit to Seoul and Gyeogju, the delegation is scheduled to visit the Foreign Ministry
and meet with its working-level officials; meet with relevant officials of ruling and opposition parties; visit
the Institute of Chinese Studies of Seoul National University; and tour the demilitarized zone (DMZ) and
cultural heritage sites in Gyeongju.
° On the two-day visit to Gyeongju, a group of junior diplomats of the Republic of Korea will accompany
the delegation to build friendship through one-to-one exchanges and small-group activities.
3. In view of the International Liaison Department’s important role as the overseer of exchanges between
the CPC and political parties of other countries, including North Korea, and as a major foreign policy maker,
enhanced mutual understanding through exchanges with the Department is expected to contribute to the
development of the ROK-China relations.
4. Following this first case of the “young-official exchange” program between the Foreign Ministry and
the International Liaison Department of the CPC, a ROK delegation of junior diplomats will visit China
next year.
