1. The 4th Bali Democracy Forum will be held with a total of 65 countries in attendance, including
33 Asia-Pacific countries and 32 outside observers, in Bali in Indonesia on December 8-9, 2011.
o Min Dong-seok, 2nd Vice Foreign Minister, will attend the Forum as a representative of the Republic
of Korea.
2. Under the theme of “Enhancing Democratic Participation in a Changing World: Responding to
Democratic Voices,” the Leader’s Session of the Forum will be co-presided over by President of
Indonesia Yudhoyono and Prime Minister of Bangladesh Wajed.
3. The Bali Democracy Forum is a major high-level forum on cooperation for democracy in the
Asia-Pacific region. President Lee Myung-bak participated in the 3rd Forum to last year preside over
high-level meetings and deliver the keynote address along with President Yudhoyono, reinforcing the
ROK’s stature as an exemplary state that contributes to the development of democracy in the
Asia-Pacific region, and as a mature member of the international community that takes the lead in
enhancing universal values of humanity.
