1. The Government of the Republic of Korea welcomes and supports the unanimous adoption of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2087 (2013) on January 22 15:10 (Eastern Standard Time) which strengthens sanctions against North Korea in reflection of the shared concern of the international community over North Korea's long-range missile launch on December 12, 2012.

2. The Government of the Republic of Korea notes that the Security Council resolution 2087 (2013) condemns North Korea's long-range missile launch as a violation of the Security Council Resolutions 1718 (2006) and 1874 (2009) and strengthens sanction measures set out in the resolutions 1718 (2006) and 1874 (2009), including the designation of additional individuals, entities and items.

3. Heeding the resolute demands of the international community as contained in the  Security Council Resolution 2087 (2013), North Korea must comply fully with all relevant Security Council resolutions, in abandoning all nuclear weapons and existing nuclear programs and suspending all activities related to its ballistic missile program, and must fully bear in mind that the Security Council expressed its determination to take "significant action" in the event of a further provocation.
