1. The high-level International Humanitarian Pledging Conference for Syria took place in Kuwait on January 30. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and His Highness Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah of Kuwait co-presided over the Conference. On behalf of the government of the Republic of Korea, MOFAT’s Deputy Minister for Multilateral and Global Affairs Kim Bong-hyun attended the meeting.

2. At the Conference, the ROK government pledged three million US dollars in human assistance to Syria, which makes the ROK’s total contribution to the country over its crisis five million US dollars.

3. Deeply concerned over the deteriorating humanitarian crisis in Syria due to the growing number of civilian casualties and refugees in the country, the ROK government plans to continue taking an active part in international efforts to solve the situation in Syria.
