1. The 18th ROK-China Policy Planning Talks were held in Seoul on September 27, with Shin Beom-chul, Director-General for Policy Planning of the ROK Foreign Ministry, and his Chinese counterpart Cai Run as heads of their respective delegations.

2. At the talks, the two sides discussed in-depth foreign policies of the ROK and Chinese governments and situations in the Asia-Pacific region, including Northeast Asia.

o The ROK-China Policy Planning Talks held every year are a consultative mechanism between the ROK and Chinese Foreign Ministries’ departments in charge of foreign policy planning. The talks provide an opportunity to exchange views on major global and regional diplomatic issues from a mid-to-long-term perspective.

3. The Foreign Ministry has held policy planning talks with major countries in order to strengthen its ability to establish mid-to-long-term foreign policies and analyze situations around the world. The Ministry has held the talks with Singapore, Turkey and the UK this year.
