1. The Sixth Korea-Arab Friendship Caravan event will take place in Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Algeria from October 5 through 10, hosted by the Korea-Arab Society with the support of the Foreign Ministry.

* The Caravan event will take place in Kuwait on October 5; in the UAE on October 7; and in Algeria on October 9-10.

2. The Korea-Arab Friendship Caravan event has been held on an annual basis since 2008 to introduce Korean culture to the Arab region and thereby enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the ROK and the Arab region.

3. The forthcoming Caravan event will be accompanied by a number of side events, including performances of traditional Korean dances by a Seoul Metropolitan Dance Theater troupe, Taekwondo by members of Kukkiwon, the World Taekwondo Headquarters, and B-boy dancing by Gambler Crew; a photo exhibition on Korea; a Korean food promotion event; an exhibition of Korean calligraphy, which are expected to fascinate all the five senses of Arabs.

° At this year’s event, in particular, the Korean troupes will perform along with local Taekwondo and B-boy groups, making it a festival where peoples and cultures of the ROK and the Arab community come together.

4. The Caravan event will serve as an opportunity to introduce various aspects of Korean culture to the Arab region, thereby helping enhance the region’s interest in and understanding on Korea. It is also expected to help boost cultural exchanges and build solidarity between the two sides and thereby lay the groundwork for enhancing their friendship in a future-oriented way.

5. The ROK Foreign Ministry’s Deputy Minister for Political Affairs Lee Kyung-soo will attend the Caravan event in Kuwait and the UAE. The event will be attended by high-ranking government officials, cultural leaders and the general public in each of the three Arab countries.
