1. The Government of the Republic of Korea condemns the abduction and detention of the Turkish Consul-General in Mosul and 80-odd Turks as well as 40 Indians by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), an extremist militant group of Iraq, in the course of its recent attack on Mosul in northern Iraq.

2. The Government of the Republic of Korea supports the efforts of the governments concerned to win the release of their nationals and hopes for an early release of the detainees.
