1. The governments of the Republic of Korea and Kazakhstan initialed the bilateral Agreement on Temporary Labor Activities of their Nationals within the Framework of Intra-Corporate Transfer in Astana, Kazakhstan, on June 19.

2. The Agreement mainly calls for the ROK and Kazakhstan to grant work permits as well as work visas and sojourn permits lasting up to three years to workers subject to intra-corporate transfer and assigned to branch offices or affiliates in the two countries.

3. The Agreement, when brought into force, is expected to reduce immigration issues facing Korean business people in Kazakhstan and thereby to help boost the ROK’s investment in the country as well as economic cooperation between the two countries.
