1. Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se held a telephone conversation with Ambassador of East Timor to the ROK Hernani F. Coelho da Silva on February 12. Minister Yun congratulated him on his appointment as East Timor’s new Foreign Minister and requested his continued interest and support to enhance relations between the ROK and East Timor.

o Minister Yun expressed appreciation for Ambassador da Silva’s contribution to the development of bilateral relations and explained that the ROK will continue to cooperate with East Timor towards the country’s economic and social development.

2. Ambassador da Silva expressed appreciation for Minister Yun’s congratulatory remarks. Recalling that he had a fruitful time during his service in the ROK, the Ambassador stated that he will continue to do his best to further promote bilateral relations.

3. The two Ministers looked forward to meeting each other again at various multilateral meetings, including the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting to be held in Malaysia in early August.
