ROK and France Hold the 3rd Meeting to Prepare for the “Years 2015-2016 of ROK-France Bilateral Exchanges” Event

1. The third joint meeting of the preparatory committees of the Republic of Korea and France for the “Years 2015-2016 of ROK-France Bilateral Exchanges” event will take place in Paris from June 16 to 19.

2. In the upcoming meeting, which follows the second of its kind held in Seoul in February, the two sides will discuss plans for events marking the start of the “Years 2015-2016 of ROK-France Bilateral Exchanges” to be held in Paris on September 18. They will also extensively discuss plans for a variety of projects to promote exchanges between the ROK and France in a wide range of fields, including cultural arts, economy, education, agri-food products, tourism, sports, and academic sector, as well as projects to increase exchanges between provincial governments of the two countries.

o The largest-ever overseas performance of “Jongmyo Jeryeak,” Korean royal ancestral ritual music, and a celebratory reception will take place at Chaillot National Theater in Paris on September 18 to commemorate the start of the “Years 2015-2016 of ROK-France Bilateral Exchanges.”

3. In the forthcoming meeting, the preparatory committees of the two countries will officially approve additional 60 or so projects in cultural arts. They will also discuss plans for some 60 projects in areas other than cultural arts which have been submitted till now.

o The preparatory committees of the two countries selected 117 cultural arts projects as officially approved projects in their second joint meeting held in February.

4. The ROK and France will take the opportunity of the “Years 2015-2016 of ROK-France Bilateral Exchanges” event to further solidify some 130-year friendship between the peoples of the two countries. They will also continue to work to present a blueprint for future-oriented cooperative relations between the two countries to younger generations in both countries.
