1. At the Seoul headquarters of Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) on July 8, Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se appointed famous singer-songwriter Yoon Jong-shin and movie actress Ko Sung-hee as PR Ambassadors for the “Eurasia Friendship Express” project and offered them virtual tickets for the Seoul-Berlin train

◦ Minister Yun mentioned that the “Eurasia Friendship Express” project is intended for the Republic of Korea to communicate and cooperate with the vast Eurasian continent and thereby to usher in a new Eurasian era. He added that if and when the logistics arteries of the Eurasian continent are connected to the inter-Korean Trans-Korean Railway (TKR), it will enhance the connectivity between Asia and the continental Europe and ultimately contribute to the ROK’s efforts to lay the groundwork for a peaceful unification of the Korean Peninsula.

2. The “Eurasia Friendship Express” project is part of the policy of the Park Geun-hye government designed to accelerate the implementation of its Eurasia Initiative. The Friendship Express will travel a total of 14,400 km, a distance equal to 1/3 of the circumference of the Earth, from July 14 till August 2, during which various events will take place on the themes of communication and cooperation; future and creation; and peace and harmony. The project is expected to help promote exchanges and cooperation across the board between the ROK and the Eurasia continent.
