1. With this year marking the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Korea and the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se will visit Algeria on July 15-16 and meet with his Algerian counterpart Ramtane Lamamra. He will also hold a meeting with Korean businessmen in Algeria.

2. In their meeting, Foreign Minister Yun and his Algerian counterpart Lamamra are expected to exchange views on a range of issues, including ways to enhance high-level exchanges and economic cooperation between the two countries, ways to cooperate on the global stage, issues on the Korean Peninsula and the situations in Northeast Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

3. Algeria, the only African country that has forged a strategic partnership with the ROK, is recording stable growth in the North African region. In Algeria, many Korean companies are actively participating in infrastructure-building projects.

4. This visit to Algeria by the ROK Foreign Minister comes four years after the last visit of its kind in 2011. It is expected to serve as an opportunity to further strengthen the ROK-Algeria friendly and cooperative relations and the ROK’s diplomacy towards Africa, as well as to expand the ROK’s global network.
