1. The first-ever director-general-level policy consultation between the Republic of Korea and Palestine will take place in Seoul on October 22, with Director-General for African and Middle Eastern Affairs Kwon Hee-seog of the ROK Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Mazen Shamiyah, Assistant to Minister for Asia, Africa and Australia of the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, leading their respective delegations.

* After the policy consultation, Assistant Shamiyah will pay a courtesy call on Deputy Minister for Political Affairs Kim Hong-kyun.

2. In the policy consultation, the two sides will discuss a variety of bilateral issues, including development cooperation and humanitarian assistance. They will also exchange views on the situations on the Korean Peninsula and in the Middle East, including issues between Israel and Palestine.

3. The upcoming policy consultation will take place following Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se’s visit to Palestine in December 2014 and his Palestinian counterpart Riad Malki’s visit to the ROK in February 2015. As such, it is expected to help the two sides increase mutual understanding and exchanges and enhance their cooperative relations.
