UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon appointed 17 world-famous figures, including Chair Dho, President John Mahama of Ghana, Prime Minister Erna Solberg of Norway, Chairman and CEO Ma Yun of Alibaba Group, and soccer player Messi, as SDGs Advocates, who will assist the UN Secretary-General with efforts to attain the SDGs by 2030.

◦ The Advocates will promote the participation of new stakeholders and the partnership among the government, civil society and the private sector in the process of implementing the SDGs, while carrying out various PR activities, including raising the awareness on the SDGs.

3. ST-EP Chair Dho, who has served in the Millennium Development Goals Advocacy (MDGs) Group since 2010, is the only ROK national to be appointed to work as a SDGs Advocate as well.
