1. During their 2016 meeting, about 170 chiefs of the Republic of Korea’s overseas diplomatic missions, including the Ambassadors and the Consuls-General, were given a special presentation by the Minister of Personnel Management on March 18, which covered the innovation direction of the ROK’s public service and the desirable attitude of future public servants, and affirmed their resolve to take an active part in the government’s innovation efforts.

2. As part of efforts to innovate public service, the Foreign Ministry, having decided to further strengthen its procedure for evaluating the qualifications of mission-chiefs-to-be and thereby to enhance their capacity to the extent that meets the expectations of the ROK people, is taking necessary measures to that end.

3. The Foreign Ministry will also improve its evaluation system on mission chiefs in a way that reflects the people’s impressions of activities of overseas missions and their chiefs in an effort for the mission chiefs to fulfill their calling as public servants by being dedicated to the country and serving the people.
