ROK Government and Private Sector to Undertake “Development Cooperation Start UP!”

1. The Foreign Ministry, together with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), will hold a forum on “Development Cooperation Start UP!: Initiatives for Development Cooperation and Business Partnership,” the first in the forum series on “implementing development cooperation together,” at the Gyeonggi Center for Creative Economy and Innovation on March 25.

2. In Session I on “the new environment for international development and business opportunities,” the Foreign Ministry and the Office for Government Policy Coordination will explain “initiatives for development cooperation” and “the second masterplan for the implementation of initiatives for development cooperation.” They will also discuss the direction of the development cooperation policy that the Republic of Korea government is implementing in sync with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (SDGs) adopted by the international community and ways to forge partnership with enterprises in that regard.

3. In Session II on “KOICA’s new innovative partnerships for official development assistance (ODA),” KOICA will explain its strategies for enhancing innovative partnerships with enterprises on development cooperation, as well as various partnership programs that it is actively conducting with companies.

4. With the year 2016 marking the first anniversary of the adoption of the SDGs, the Foreign Ministry will hold forums on “implementing development cooperation together” with diverse development partners, including companies, in order to seek ways to increase outreach activities in the field of development cooperation and strengthen private-public partnership in a way that contributes to the ROK’s efforts to build creative economy.
