1. The Foreign Ministry will host the “2016 International Cooperation Seminar on New and Renewable Energy Industries” in Seoul on May 31. The event will bring together government officials and those from energy-related organizations of nine foreign countries, including Malaysia, Mexico, the Philippines and Uzbekistan, as well as those from relevant enterprises and the academic circle at home.

2. Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Affairs Lee Tae-ho will deliver opening remarks at the seminar, which will consist of three sessions on individual countries’ projects and policies on renewable energy; the progress in the development of new energy industries; and the presence of the Republic of Korea’s new and renewable energy industries overseas and relevant supportive programs.

3. The forthcoming seminar is expected to help the ROK’s new and renewable energy companies expand their presence in the international energy market, which is at a turning point in the wake of the launch of the new climate regime. By doing so, it is expected to contribute to the ROK’s efforts to restore the vitality of its economy.
