1. The Foreign Ministry will hold the “2016 Korea-Japan-China Trilateral Cooperation Workshop for Public Officials” in Pyeongchang, Gangwon-do (province), on June 2 and 3.

2. The forthcoming event, the fourth of its kind in 2016 since the first held in 2012, will bring together a total of 100-odd public officials, including international relations officials at the central and provincial governments of the Republic of Korea; and those from China and Japan who are working or studying in the ROK. The workshop will feature congratulatory remarks by Secretary-General Yang Houlan of the ROK-Japan China Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS), a briefing on the progress in the trilateral cooperation, presentations on cooperation cases between relevant agencies of the three countries, and a lecture on the cultures of the three countries.

3. As the workshop will take place in Pyeongchang, the venue of the 2018 Olympic & Paralympic Winter Games, relevant officials at Gangwon-do will brief the workshop participants on the progress in preparations for the Olympic Winter Games. The participants will also visit the Olympic facilities under construction.

4. The workshop will mark the first of its kind since the three countries restored the trilateral cooperation mechanism on track at their trilateral summit meeting on November 1, 2015, the first in three and half years. The event is expected to help the public officials of the three countries better understand trilateral cooperation projects and build close networks among them.
