1. The first Republic of Korea-Ukraine forum on economic cooperation took place at the Diplomatic Academy of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry on June 14, co-hosted by the ROK Foreign Ministry and the Korea Maritime Institute (KMI) as well as the Gorshenin Institute and Ernst & Young of Ukraine.

2. The forum brought together delegates from four state-run think tanks of the ROK, including the KMI, as well as leading high-level figures from the Ukrainian government and businesses, such as First Vice Prime Minster Kubiv and Governor of the Lviv region Syniutka. At the event, the two sides discussed matters of mutual concern, built human networks, and sought the way forward for bilateral cooperation as well as specific ways to work together in diverse fields.

3. At the forum, congratulatory remarks from Prime Minister Groysman were read. The event consisted of two roundtable sessions on the outlook for overall economic cooperation between the ROK and Ukraine. Specifically, the sessions covered four main promising sectors for cooperation -- infrastructure, logistics, agriculture and energy. The two sides agreed to constructively build on the outcome of the forum and to seek closer substantive cooperation between the two countries, which will mark the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2017.

4. Ukraine, which is located at a strategically important region in Eurasia and has abundant natural resources, is regarded by the ROK as its future market and promising partner for cooperation. In that vein, the forum on June 14 is seen to have served as an opportunity to explore the possibility of cooperation in various fields.
