1. A new electronic system has been installed among the overseas diplomatic missions, the Foreign Ministry and the National Police Agency (NPA) of the Republic of Korea, making it possible to obtain copies of criminal record certificates in as short as two days after application, effective from June 20. Previously, it used to take at least two weeks to do so.

2. On June 2, Director-General for Overseas Koreans and Consular Affairs Kim Wan-joong of the Foreign Ministry met with the head of the NPA’s Foreign Affairs Bureau to seek ways to step up cooperation between the two government agencies. They agreed to continue efforts to provide services to overseas Koreans in a way that better meets their needs.

3. As part of such efforts, the Foreign Ministry will start issuing Apostilles online in 2016.
