MIKTA Condemns the Terrorist Attack on Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport

1. Four member countries -- the Republic of Korea, Mexico, Indonesia and Australia -- of the five-member MIKTA issued on June 28 a joint statement condemning the terrorist attack on Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport, in Turkey, the other member state of MIKTA.

2. In their joint statement, the foreign ministers of the four aforementioned countries strongly condemned terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, as it constitutes one of the most serious threats to international peace and security; expressed condolences and solidarity with the victims of the attack and their bereaved families as well as the Turkish government and people, and hope for a prompt recovery by those wounded in the attack; and noted that MIKTA has established counter-terrorism as one of its core areas of collaboration to contribute to greater global peace and stability.

3. The MIKTA joint statement, in which to condemn the recent terrorist attack in Turkey, marked the eighth of its kind adopted by foreign ministers of MIKTA member states as well as another opportunity to demonstrate the value of MIKTA, which seeks to contribute to peace and prosperity of the international community.
