KNDA to Open the “2016 Seoul Academy of International Law”

1. The Center for International Law at the Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security (IFANS) of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy (KNDA) will open the “2016 Seoul Academy of International Law” from July 4 to 15 for 42 people, including diplomats and other government officials, academics, researchers and graduate students related to international law from the Republic of Korea and other 17 countries in the Asia-Pacific region.

° At the opening ceremony of the Seoul Academy to take place at the KNDA on July 4 in the presence of diplomats to the ROK from home countries of academy participants, Second Vice Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul will deliver a keynote speech.

2. The Seoul Academy will offer ten courses on international law regarding East Asian and global issues, which will be taught by prominent Korean and foreign judges of international courts, ranking officials of international organizations and academics and thereby provide a good opportunity to learn more about diplomatic issues of participants’ home countries as well as international legal issues.

3. In particular, the ROK will take the opportunity to seek broader support on its international legal matters, to build an international legal network in East Asia, and to expand its role as an international legal hub.
