Foreign Ministry Supports Korean Youth’s Bids to Build Presence in Latin America

1. The Foreign Ministry, together with the Ministry of Employment and Labor, and the Human Resources Development Service of Korea, hosted on July 1 a Youth Forum -- a seminar on ways to support bids of young Koreans to build their presence in Latin America.

2. The seminar, which came as part of the “2016 Korea-Latin America Partnership: Towards a Shared Vision for Future Cooperation” event, held from June 29 through July 1, was organized to support bids of the Republic of Korea’s future leaders of cooperation with Latin America to build their presence in the region as well as for the Foreign Ministry to join the government efforts to create jobs for young Koreans.

° At the seminar, information was provided on various institutions that the ROK government has put in place to support bids of young Koreans to build their presence in Latin America -- internships at 13 regional organizations in Latin America, the working holiday program, the K-MOVE program, etc. In conjunction with the seminar, the Human Resources Development Service of Korea hosted a session on strategies for job search in Latin America.


3. The Youth Forum marked the finale of the three-day “2016 Korea-Latin America Partnership: Towards a Shared Vision for Future Cooperation” event, which brought together some 1,500 people, including high-level government officials from the ROK and Latin American countries, leaders of regional organizations, foreign diplomats to the ROK, Latin America experts from home and abroad, relevant prominent scholars, and entrepreneurs and youngsters of the ROK.
