ROK-Japan Joint Committee on Environmental Cooperation to Hold its 18th Meeting

1. The 18th meeting of the Republic of Korea-Japan Joint Committee on Environmental Cooperation will take place in Gangwon-do, east of Seoul, on July 6 and 7.

2. The forthcoming meeting will cover ways that the ROK and Japan can work together on bilateral, Northeast Asian and global environmental issues.

3. The two countries will also review the progress or outcome of ten cooperation projects conducted over the past year and will seek new ones.

4. The ROK-Japan Joint Committee on Environmental Cooperation has convened in the two countries on an annual and rotational basis since 1994 pursuant to the bilateral Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Environment Protection concluded in 1993. Through their Joint Committee, the two countries have sought to better understand each other’s environment policies and step up substantive cooperation, including through joint research and exchanges of information.
