1. The Foreign Ministry, together with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), will host the second forum themed “development cooperation together with the private sector: partnership with the private sector to raise resources for innovative development” at the Korea National Diplomatic Academy on November 9.

° With the year 2016 marking the launch of the sustainable development goals (SDGs), the forum, organized to step up private-government partnership, will bring together some 300 people, including those from international and public organizations, enterprises, academia and civil society.

2. With the global community faced with the issue of how to raise the resources necessary for achieving the SDGs, the most ambitious development goals in the history of humanity, the forum has been organized to seek ways to overcome the limits of increasing public resources of the global community and to resolve the issue with the originality and innovative capability of the private sector.

3. At the forum, experts in development resources from the Republic of Korea and abroad will discuss in depth ways to raise development resources from the private sector in order to achieve the SDGs as well as to forge effective private-public partnership.

4. Going forward, the Foreign Ministry will increase outreach activities in a bid to help the general public in the ROK learn more about the international discussions on development cooperation and for partners in various sectors, including businesses, civil society and academia, to take part in the ROK’s work to set development cooperation policies.
