1. The 197th meeting of the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) Joint Committee will take place at the Foreign Ministry on November 22. The Foreign Ministry’s Director-General for North American Affairs Yeo Seung-bae and Deputy Commander of US Forces Korea (USFK) Thomas W. Bergeson will co-chair the meeting.

2. The upcoming meeting will cover issues concerning the implementation of SOFA and others, including increased education for the USFK on law and norms of the Republic of Korea; environment issues concerning US military units; job stability for the USFK Korean employees; the progress in the follow-up on the erroneous shipment of anthrax samples; and ways for the two sides to work together on SOFA.
