1. The Foreign Ministry will host the Republic of Korea-Japan-China Trilateral Youth Camp 2017 in Pyeongchang, Gangwon-do (province), from July 18 to 21 where 90 college students from the three countries will participate.

° The Trilateral Youth Camp, whose upcoming round will mark its sixth since the first held in 2012, is a trilateral youth exchange event that comes as part of the efforts to build an ROK-Japan-China trilateral youth network.

2. At the Camp, the college students from the ROK, Japan and China will seek to better understand one another by exchanging ideas on ways to step up cooperation among their three countries; and sharing with one another their problems, as well as through presentations on their experiences in trilateral cooperation and exchanges. They will also take the opportunity to discuss the future of trilateral cooperation.

° The students will also visit facilities for the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games; be offered a lecture on “sports diplomacy” by the Secretary-General of the Organizing Committee for the PyeongChang Winter Olympics; and deliver presentations on their roles in sports diplomacy, exploring ways that the ROK, Japan and China can boost exchanges among them and seek unity on the back of the Olympic Games that they have hosted and will host.

3. The Foreign Ministry expects that the Camp will offer the youth of the three countries an opportunity to spend four days together deliberating on the future of cooperation among their three countries, and thereby to enhance mutual understanding and to build solidarity among them.
