1. The government of the Republic of Korea is shocked and angered by the fact that the barbaric terrorist attack which occurred in a tourist area in central Barcelona, Spain, on August 17 (local time) killed and injured innocent people, and strongly condemns the terrorist act.

2. The ROK government prays for the souls of the victims of the terrorist attack, and extends its deep condolences and sympathies to their bereaved families and the people of Spain.

3. It is the firm position of the ROK government that terrorism is a crime against humanity that cannot be justified under any circumstances and must be eradicated at any cost. The ROK government strongly supports the efforts of the Spanish government to root out terrorism, and will continue to take part in the international community’s counter-terrorism efforts.
